PRINCIPAL CAST: Norman Beaton (Angelo); Yvette Harris (Isabella); Stefan Kalipha (Duke).
This production opened in Hull and played from 24 - 28 March 1981 before beginning its run at the National from 14 April - 11 August 1981.
The production was the first time either national theatre company had employed a majority of ethnic minority actors for their main stage Shakespeares.
