Julius Caesar (1996): Moving Theatre Company, Alley Theater, Houston, Texas
This production of Julius Caesar was produced at the Alley Theatre as part of a cycle called "Shakespeare's Roman Plays".
Many of the British black and Asian cast of Julius Caesar had also appeared in Vanessa Redgrave's production of Antony and Cleopatra the previous year (see Moving Theatre, Riverside Studios production).
Vanessa and Corin Redgrave had a fruitful working relationship with the Alley Theater, Houston, through their theatre company, Moving Theatre. This included staging Shakespeare as well as producing the world premiere of Tennessee Williams's Not About Nightingales, which they had re-discovered. That play starred Corin Redgrave and was directed by Trevor Nunn at the National Theatre's Cottesloe auditorium and subsequently played at the Alley Theater and on Broadway, winning multiple awards.
