Darien Angadi was of Indian parentage and studied at Cambridge University where he was active in the Marlowe Dramatic Society. Roles at Cambridge included playing a Singer and a Soothsayer in Nicholas Arnold's production of Cymbeline in 1971. Angadi's biography in the 1976 Oxford Playhouse Tempest states that he "began his career as a boy singer and then went as a choral singer to Trinity College Cambridge."
