This production had its press night on 12 October 1972 in Stratford-upon-Avon, later transferring to the Aldwych Theatre, London. It was part of The Romans season at the RSC. The programme credits state it was "Directed by Trevor Nunn with Buzz Goodbody and Euan Smith".
For the production's transfer to the Aldwych Theatre, London, Patrick Stewart took over as Aaron when Calvin Lockhart left the company.
