"The designer Jon Bauser['s set for the three plays that make up the 'What country friends is this?' season is comprised of] ragged planks above a tank of water, which gasping figures can rom and comic ones fall into. The effect is disorientation in our own age of global migration....[For The Tempest] the planks are now littered with rocks, most of them bits of a giant wrecked statue of Caliban's idol Setebos; pale sad Spirits rise, threaten and wander."  ~ Libby Purves, The Times, 28 April 2012, in Theatre Record 2012, Issue 9

"Meanwhile, the Palestinian ator Amer Hlehel plays Caliban. When he exultantly cries, 'Freedom', it feels as if he is speaking for the enslaved everywhere."  ~ Jane Edwardes, Sunday Times, 6 May 2012, in Theatre Record 2012, Issue 9

"...special mention should go to Bruce Mackinnon's drunken steward and Felix Hayes's klutzy cook...also to Emily Taaffe's Miranda and (in particular) Solomon Israel's Ferdinand for so beautifully capturing new love's elusive tenderness."  ~ Clare Brennan, Observer, 29 April 2012, in Theatre Record 2012, Issue 9

"...while the superb presence and diction of Cecilia Noble's Abbess [in Comedy of Errors] is a pleasure encountered again in her Maria and Juno in David Farr's productions of Twelfth Night and The Tempest."  ~ Patrick Carnegy, Spectator, 5 May 2012, in Theatre Record 2012, Issue 9
