She grew up in London and is the daughter of an Antiguan mother and a father who was from St. Lucia. Her parents came to the UK in the 1950s. Jean-Baptiste's non-Shakespearean classical credits include playing Foible in Phyllida Lloyd's production of William Congreve's The Way of the World at the National Theatre in 1995.
