Lloyd Reckord was born in 1929 in Kingston, Jamaica. Reckord left Jamaica for England in 1951, to join his brother Barry - the playwright and actor - who had already emigrated. He trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and later joined the Old Vic Company. His obituary in the Jamaica Gleaner also mentions that Reckord worked with Tyrone Guthrie, but we have not yet located information on which production that would have been. He also studied at Yale Drama School and the American Theater Wing. When he returned to Jamaica, he founded the National Theatre Trust, producing more than 30 productions under that banner. He died in July 2015. In November 2015, the BFI announced that it had found what it claimed was the world's first interracial kiss on screen between Lloyd Reckord and Elizabeth MacLennan in a 1952 play called You in Your Small Corner.
