Kulvinder Ghir was born in Kenya and came to England at the age of 7, settling in Leeds. He was a member of the Leeds Youth Players and subsequently trained at the London Studio Centre. Ghir co-wrote the play Breath of Life, which was nominated for a BAFTA award in 1992.
