Much Ado About Nothing (1988): Royal Shakespeare Company, Royal Shakespeare Theatre
PRINCIPAL CAST: Antony Brown (Leonato); Robert Demeger (Don John); Ralph Fiennes (Claudio); Julia Ford (Hero); David Lyon (Don Pedro); Clive Merrison (Benedick); Maggie Steed (Beatrice); David Waller (Dogberry).
This production ran from 7 April 1988 - 19 January 1989 (99 performances in repertory).
This production was so poorly received that it was only staged at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon, thus breaking the tradition of a Newcastle season and a run at the RSC's then-London home in the Barbican Centre; the rest of the 1988-89 RSC Stratford season followed this pattern.
