This production ran from 22 June 1990 - 2 February 1991. It played in rep with the same company as Richard Eyre's production of Richard III with Ian McKellen. It also toured internationally from 13 September - 16 December 1990, playing in Tokyo, Nottingham, Cardiff, Leeds, Belfast, Hamburg, Milan, Madrid, Paris, Cork and Cairo.
