Lyndam Gregory was born in Darjeeling, India. His father was a tea planter and his mother was a teacher. The family moved to the UK in the early 1960s. Gregory trained at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art. He was best known for his television roles in various soap operas including Eastenders and Coronation Street. It is worth noting that his first television role was as a trainee barrister working with Leo McKern's Rumpole of the Bailey in 1979. Gregory's wife notes in the obituary she wrote for The Guardian that Leo McKern - who played the title character of the popular series - "made him very welcome". He died in August 2014.
