Juanita Waterman went to Weekend Art College while still at school and while there became a founder member of the Fusion Ensemble Company. She went on to train at Drama Centre, graduating in 1985. She won the 1990 NAACP* Image Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her role in Cry Freedom.
