Joseph Mydell also played Trigorin in the 1991 production of The Seagull at the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield. He also appeared in the UK premiere of Tony Kushner's Angels in America at the National Theatre, directed by Declan Donnellan. In 1996, Mydell took the title role in the anonymous play Everyman for Kathryn Hunter and Marcello Magni at the RSC. Mydell produced a 17-minute documentary short on Ira Aldridge called The Black Tragedian, which is in the V&A Performance Archive (no other details known).
