Cathy Tyson was born in Kingston-Upon-Thames but was brought up in Liverpool, where she joined the Everyman Youth Theatre, according to the Everyman Hamlet programme. Her credits include playing Eliza Doolittle in Michael McCaffery's production of George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion at Theatr Clwyd in Mold, Wales in 1991.
